Video: Practicing Love

Stimuli:

A person practicing expressing affection in front of a mirror in a lonely night was the concept for this character. I thought of this while trying to see how I looked smiling in the mirror. There seems to be a gap between how the world perceives me and how I perceive myself. That gap affects how others understand the way I express what I feel. We probably all know at least one person on the quest to find the love of life. It seems like such a common quest, but rare to conquer. Loving another person completely and for long seems to be a lonely and an impossible task for many.

While I was editing this video, I thought of this woman dressed and acting in the way she believed expresses affection. Love is careful, violent, confusing, physical, lustful, romantic, but ultimately lonely.

The Design:

The only material available for me was the costume shop at the time of the shoot. I thought of this character's sense of what romantic is off beat. I imagined a ridiculous Victorian nightwear theme.

Following is the design I recently came up for what I felt suites the video better. A lonely woman dressed most beautifully as she knows how, ready to practice expressing what she believes to be love.
